How To Get Magnificent Calves in Just 15 Minutes a Week!

No, not THAT kind of calf…

No, not THAT kind of calf…

Her jaw hit the floor.

He strode in, shorts stretching to just above the knee, calves glistening (glistening!) in the sun with the wind in his hair. [Leg hair that is.]

With each stride the undulation of his calf muscle stretching and flexing had her gasping for air.

Now as you might have guessed, these weren’t just ANY calves, these were the calves of a future fitness professional.

Someone who KNOWS a thing or two about muscle toning and strengthening.

What’s more, these calves were the product of just 15 minutes (THAT’S IT!) of work each week!

So who was this magnificent calved man?

And who was this lady?

Well of course, if you don’t already know, this is the story of how Rachel and I first met!

Now you see Rachel was hard to get….

She was a rebellious young punk with a knack for long boarding, metal music and piercings.

She loved going to concerts, hanging out with friends and giving two awesome thumbs up to a camera while wearing fake glasses.

Scarcely having time in her JAM PACKED schedule for a boy…

But alas, the heart wants what the heart wants and she was no match for those magnificent calves.

It was love at first sight and within just 1 short year, she had those calves on lock down.

(What you can’t see here is that she’s actually secretly staring down at my calves this entire time)

They lived happily ever after, with no other woman EVER having a chance to experience those magnificent calves in all of their marital glory the way she would.

They’ve been through a lot, the two of them (the calves I mean), but throughout it all, not a single moment was lost in that love everlasting.

It’s a love story for the ages and one I plan to tell our children one day.

At least… That’s the way I remember it…

How to Grow and Tone Your Calves up to 1” in Less than One Month!

Whew. What a story!

But now that story time is done, let’s get on with the point of this post:

>> Growing some amazing calf muscles!!

Now listen, here’s the thing… I can’t promise magic.

Even if you follow my EXACT recommendations, a reaction like this (see video below) might be a little out of the realm of possibility.

Not everyone can have such raw and unfathomable calf genetics.

However…

Even if you don’t have ‘Marshall level’ calf genetics (and those incredible zip off pants), we can still make some incredible progress on your calves in just a few short weeks with nothing but 15 minutes of effort.

One Simple Exercise to Grow Your Calves.

(Not the best audio, but this video will explain the exercise)

Video Summary:

  • Perform one set, per leg to absolute failure, using the rack (or at home use the railing) to help pull yourself up for the later repetitions

  • Go slow and steady on the way down and don’t let your arch and ankle collapse at the bottom (this can be surprisingly tough!)

  • Your calf muscle should feel like a ball of fire at the end of the set

  • Target reps should be 20-60 reps and you do not repeat. Just do one set to absolute failure

  • At the end of the set, be careful stepping down because your calves will be absolutely exhausted

  • Repeat 3 times per week for a month

Don’t forget to take starting progress pictures (Should we call these “Calfies”?!?) and take both flexed and relaxed pictures.

Like I mentioned, these can also be GREAT for injury resilience and reducing the chance of achillies strain. You may also notice that your foot posture improves and issues like pain on the inside of the knees or ankle pain may go away!

If you’re going to give this a try, be sure to message me on Facebook (facebook.com/dcolvin91) or send me an email at derek@derekcolvin.com. I’d love to cheer you on and hear about the progress you make!

Happy calf raising!!
